RETURN & REFUND POLICY

1. What You’re Buying

 

Every piece from Colonial Metalworks is handmade, often one-of-a-kind, and frequently built from reclaimed materials. No two items are identical. Tool marks, weld signatures, patina, and material variation are intentional characteristics, not defects.

 

If you expect uniform, mass-produced perfection, this isn’t that.

2. Core Policy (Straightforward Version)

  • All sales are final.

  • No returns or exchanges on standard, custom, or one-of-a-kind items.

  • Orders enter fulfillment or production quickly—once placed, they are considered committed.​

 

This protects the integrity of handmade work and prevents abuse of one-off inventory.

3. If Something Goes Wrong (We Handle It)

​

We stand behind what we build. If there’s a legitimate issue, we fix it.

 

Eligible issues include:

  • Item arrives damaged in transit

  • You received the wrong item

  • A functional defect that was not disclosed

 

To qualify:

  • Contact us within 48 hours of delivery

  • Email: [your email]

  • Include:

    • Order number

    • Clear photos of the item and packaging

 

Resolution options (at our discretion):

  • Repair

  • Replacement (if possible)

  • Partial or full refund

If it’s our mistake or a verified shipping issue, we make it right. No runaround.

4. Shipping Reality

  • Every item is inspected and packaged with intent before it leaves our hands

  • Once accepted by the carrier, transit risk shifts to them

 

We are not responsible for:

  • Carrier delays

  • Lost packages marked “delivered”

  • Mishandling during shipping

 

We will assist in claims when applicable, but resolution depends on the carrier’s process.

5. Custom & Commissioned Work

Custom work is where this policy matters most.

  • All payments are non-refundable

  • Deposits secure time, design, and materials

  • Once fabrication begins, the order is locked

  • Approved designs = approved outcome

 

You’re commissioning an artist, not ordering a SKU. Variations happen, that’s the point.

6. Cancellations

  • Orders cannot be canceled once placed

  • Immediate requests may be reviewed, but approval is not guaranteed

 

7. Expectations & Material Truth

By purchasing, you acknowledge:

  • Metal evolves—patina, oxidation, and finish changes may occur

  • Reclaimed materials carry history (wear, marks, inconsistencies)

  • Photos represent the piece but are not a pixel-perfect guarantee

 

These are not flaws—they’re the story.

8. Case-by-Case Resolution (Good Faith Clause)

We operate like humans, not a faceless system.

If something feels off, reach out. We’ll review the situation and determine a fair path forward.
 

This does not guarantee a return, refund, or exchange—but it ensures you’re heard.

9. Chargebacks & Disputes

We document everything.

Any chargeback will be contested using:

  • This policy (accepted at checkout)

  • Product descriptions and listing details

  • Shipping confirmation and delivery proof

  • Communication records

 

Filing a chargeback without contacting us first is considered bad faith and will be defended accordingly.
